Why My Cats Are My Valentines
By Susan Paretts
When Valentine's Day comes around, I already know who my little four-legged cupids are going to be — my cats! Well, and my husband too, but my kitties are always up for some love and snuggles, so they're truly the best furry Valentines ever. Two of my cats were even born right around the holiday, making it even more special. Here are the reasons why my felines make Valentine's Day the best.
1. They're Healthier Than Chocolate
Okay, I do love chocolate, but it's not the best for me. My cats, on the other hand, keep me active, especially when I'm engaged in some fervent wand-toy game with them or driving them crazy with a laser toy all over the house. Afterwards, they're always up for a snuggle, so they're much healthier than chocolates, and cuddlier too.
2. They Inspire the Best Gifts
While I love my husband, he hasn't always been the best at picking out gifts for me. But he knows that I adore my cats — and of course he adores them too — so he always knows anything cat-themed will meet with my approval. Cat-themed jewelry, pajamas and tablet cases are always a hit. Even books featuring cats are a superb choice. Any gifts related to cats keep him out of the dog house!
3. They Bring Me Awesome Presents
Yes, the majority of my cats like to bring me gifts. Now, they may not be the most expensive, the nicest or even the most practical of gifts, but it's the thought that counts. Whether it's an orange pom-pom, a sock bootie, a catnip carrot or a jingle ball, there's always something waiting for me on Valentine's Day.
4. They Create a Heart Together
Yes, that's right, my cats make the cutest little heart when they sit together in a cat bed. Their tails curl right around each other to form the bottom of the heart and their heads are each a loop of the heart. It's adorable and very social-media worthy.
5. They Always Steal My Heart
Whether they're snuggling next to me, on my lap, on my tablet or on my head when I'm sleeping, my cats always show me tons of love. They love to head-butt me to mark me with their scent, which is the ultimate sign of kitty love. Plus, they meow incessantly for cuddles and head scratches. Who could resist these little cat-sanovas?
6. They're Easy to Shop For
No gift receipts needed for these Valentines. All I need to do is pick up something delicious, like Meow Mix Irresistibles®, and my cats are putty in my hands. They'll do anything for their favorite treats, and I get the satisfaction of seeing their furry faces light up when I reward them for being my four-legged cupids.
