Dog-Friendly Dates in 5 U.S. Cities
Sure, people are nice, but dogs make the ultimate soul mates. Think about it: they're loyal to a fault, very cute and generally think everyone is awesome. If you're looking to spend some time with your furry soul mate and other people who think like you do, check out these doggy date spots around the U.S.
1. San Francisco
The city by the bay is a gorgeous one and, lucky for you, most of the city's prettiest spots are dog friendly. Take Fido to explore Golden Gate Park, Baker Beach or any of the amazing dog parks SF has to offer. Many stores and restaurants in the city are also dog friendly, and some even have Milk-Bone® biscuits waiting behind the counter for visiting pups. If you're looking to have an adult beverage or two, several bars in SF's Mission District are also dog friendly.
2. San Diego
Head south from San Francisco to San Diego—the home of surfer dogs. San Diego even has an entire beach dedicated to catching rays with your furry friend. After some fun in the sun, head to any of the city's pet-friendly restaurants or even a local bar that hosts a "Yappy Hour" with dog-themed cocktails. If after all that fun your dog needs a little TLC, check out Howlistic, an eco-friendly dog spa where pups are pampered on the daily.
Beantown is a great place to take your dog on a date. The Liberty Hotel in Boston is a great place to stay and eat with your pup. They even feature one of those Yappy Hours you're always hearing about! If you've always suspected your pup was actually a sea dog, take him for a ride on the city's water taxi line, which will provide you both with a new way to see the sights. Dogs are also permitted to walk Boston's famous Freedom Trail, so you and your pooch can both take in the local history together.
Drinking and dining with your dog seems to be the theme of this list, so it feels right to mention the Dog House Drinkery in Austin. This place is essentially a dog park attached to a bar and grill, chock full of tasty treats and fun activities for dogs and humans alike! Austin also has some beautiful hiking spots your pup will love, some of which include breathtaking views and lakes perfect for splashing. If your pooch is peckish, he can belly up to Bow-Wow Bones, Austin's first food truck just for dogs.
Unleash your and your pooch's sense of adventure at any of Seattle's 5 dog parks. If hiking is more your dog's speed, there are also several pet friendly trails in Seattle as well as the surrounding areas of Washington. You can also take to the beautiful Puget Sound and rent a kayak for you and your pup for a day.
Since recent studies have shown there are more dogs within city limits than children, you and Rover can kick back at the end of a long day at one of the city's many dog friendly bars or restaurants. Check out Norm's Eatery and Ale House, which is so canine friendly it was named after the owner's pooch!
Any time you travel with your dog, make sure to follow these tips to keep him safe and happy at all times. It’s also a good idea to give your pet lots of exercise before taking him to bars and restaurants because a tuckered out dog is a well-behaved one.
