7 Times Pets Make the Best Valentines
Every year, we place a huge emphasis on having a special someone to share Valentine's Day with. This year, you don't have to look so hard to find the most special someone of all. You can share the holiday of love with your pet! Sure, you may spend every day of the year with her too, but has anyone ever loved you better? In case you need a reminder, here are just a few of the times pets prove their status as the best Valentines around.
1. When You're Enjoying All That Valentine's Day Chocolate
As you work your way through a stash of cocoa-flavored yummies, you may begin to wonder if maybe you've overdone it for the day (or the week? Maybe the month?). So you ask your pet, "Do you think I've eaten too much chocolate?" Your pet says nothing, and you blissfully keep on eating. The best part? Since pets can't have chocolate, you don't have to feel guilty about keeping it ALL to yourself.
2. When Your Pet Snuggles Up Next to You
There's nothing better than a date who snuggles through three 1940s movies in a row without the slightest word of complaint. Whatever entertainment genre you love, she loves. When it comes right down to it, what's better than watching a movie, reading a book or just passing the time with your pet?
3. When You Feel Like Dressing to Impress . . . Yourself
Perhaps your idea of dressing up for Valentine's Day involves a worn-out red hoodie. Ask your pet how you look, and you'll receive that happily blank expression that clearly says, "Whatever feels best, friend." And he is absolutely right. So add a pair of mismatched woolly socks with hearts and polka dots and call it good.
4. When You're Exhausted from a Rough Day
All you can think about is taking a warm bath and getting some much-needed sleep. Then you discover your furry friend has pre-warmed the bed for you — just because she loves you. Loyal pet for the win!
5. When You Return From a Quick Errand
You run out to grab a latte and a magazine (okay, and a scone too!). You return home just 20 minutes later to your ecstatically overjoyed dog, who reacts with the amount of emotion one might expect to see after being parted for ten or twelve years. If that's not love, what is?
6. When Your Human Valentine Cancels
When your candlelit dinner is off because "something came up," the prospect of a microwaved dinner served in your fully-lit kitchen can feel especially depressing. But your pet Valentine would never dream of canceling on you at the last minute (or ever). Even better, when humans do let you down, she's always there to remind you how wonderful your company truly is.
7. When You're Overwhelmed by the Little Things
It's easy to become bogged down in the minutia of work and family and life in general, leaving you a bit overwhelmed. But your pet never sweats the small stuff. He knows how to prioritize the important things — like when it's time to drop everything and play with squeaky toys, you play with those darn squeaky toys. There's nothing like a little perspective — and time with your best friend — for chasing your troubles away.
